““And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in you.” -Psalm 39:7
This punchy expression of undaunted confidence in the Lord reveals the Psalmist’s new and inspired attitude. He confesses that he has tried to hold his tongue and failed, he has lamented his suffering and the uncertain meaning of his life. Now, he is resolved to stand in God’s grace. “What I am waiting for?” He asks. It’s time to get on with life because his hope is him who holds all things together by the decree of his will the power of his lovingkindness.
This reminds that we too should stop despairing and start hoping, since our hope is in him who is before all thing and in him by which all things hold together.
“For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” -Colossians 1:16–17
