“For it is you who light my lamp; the Lord my God lightens my darkness. For by you I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.” -Psalm 18:28–30
These verses are technically connected to verse twenty-seven with the series of conjunctions, “for.” “This God,” whose way is perfect, saves the humble and humbles the haughty (vs. 27). “This God” also keeps David’s lamp lit (keeps him a live) and gives him remarkable strength to advance against his enemies and win the battle for right. “This God,” whose word proves true time and time again is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.
“This God” is our God too.
