“I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.” -Psalm 34:4
This verse is part of a larger pericope (biblical paragraph or stanza) but it resounds with such joyful encouragement it needed to be treated alone.
Simple and straightforward, David shares his own testimony. He went to the Lord for help and the Lord heard his prayer, answered him and delivered him, not just from some fear, but from all his fears.
No less than 100 times, the Scripture tells God’s people to “fear not,” “do not fear,” or “do not be afraid.”
Why? Because “…God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” -2 Timothy 1:7
When you are afraid, seek the Lord and let him answer by delivering you from all your fears.
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” -Psalm 56:3
“in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me?” -Psalm 56:11
