“He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.” (Matthew 28:6–7, ESV)
This is the conclusion of the whole matter. Jesus is alive. He did as he said he would. He kept his word and the empty tomb was proof that he rose again. And if he kept his word about his own resurrection, it is proof enough that our own epitaphs will read:
Here the whole world (stars, water, air,
And field, and forest, as they were
Reflected in a single mind)
Like cast off clothes was left behind
In ashes yet with hope that she,
Re-born from holy poverty,
In lenten lands, hereafter may
Resume them on her Easter Day.
-Joy Davidman’s epitaph in The Collected Poems of C. S. Lewis
The Angel told the women to come and see. Then he told them to go quickly and tell the others he was alive. Come see, then go tell. Easter is about coming and seeing, then going and telling. Come see that Jesus is alive then go tell others that in Christ, they can live too!

I will look forward to receiving a daily devotional from you Scott. I still remember you and your mom and dad when we met for church at the Hollifields, although it seems like such a distant memory now. It is so wonderful to see the hand of God on your life. I am still in touch with Glenda. I miss those old days. Happy Easter to you and your family. ( I just finished writing my life story for my grandchildren. It took me two years.)
