“Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength! We will sing and praise your power.” -Psalm 21:13
The Lord alone is to be exalted and the congregation vows to sing and praise his power and strength. This is a good reminder for us in the modern church who tend to focus only on the Lord’s mercy and grace.
But God who is infinite is always, at the same time immensely just, good, holy, merciful, gracious, and strong. In our finiteness, we tend to focus on one or the other of his attributes. But he is all those (and more) all the time.
Let us not forget to sing to our God and praise him and exalt his name not only for his mercy and grace, but also for his infinite strength and power.
